Surprising Early Signs of Pregnancy to Watch Out For

Postpartum treatment Believe it or not, many women show signs or symptoms of pregnancy before their missed period. There are a few signs to watch out for if you think you may be pregnant.

How Early Can Pregnancy Symptoms Start?

Because pregnancy symptoms can start very early, sometimes women know they are pregnant before an at-home pregnancy test can determine a positive result. However, because period symptoms, such as breast sensitivity and fatigue, almost mimic early pregnancy symptoms, it can be hard to distinguish between them.

Some women can experience pregnancy symptoms as early as 17 days after their missed period, while others may not have any signs until 20-35 days after. It’s important to note that some women don’t have any pregnancy symptoms until they are well into their first trimester, and some don’t have any at all.

Early Signs of Pregnancy

While you may not be able to be entirely sure until a positive pregnancy test, there are some early clues that you are pregnant, including:

  • Smell Sensitivity: During pregnancy, many women notice smell sensitivity in the beginning stages of their pregnancy. If you feel nauseated over a smell you usually enjoy, you might be pregnant.
  • Tender Breasts: Women experience breast changes throughout their pregnancies, whether tender, painful breasts or getting larger; this is a common early sign of pregnancy.
  • Fatigue: Almost every pregnant woman experiences fatigue in the early phases of their pregnancy. Your body is going through so much trying to prepare for a baby that it only makes sense you’re feeling extra, extra tired. If you’re feeling more tired than usual, it could be a sign that you’re expecting.
  • Light Spotting: Another early sign is light spotting. This sign could cause you to believe you’re getting your period, but if you notice that the spotting goes away without a full-on period, this is a big sign you could be pregnant.
